The Karur Textile Manufacturers and Exporters Association (KTMEA) was primarily formed in the olden days to allocate yarn to handloom weavers through a system of quota administered by government. Today it acts as a dynamic body to help the home textile industry influence government policy for its development, upgrade technology, upgrade worker skills, and instill best practices amongst its members, provide common facility for testing, design centre, common hostel facility for workers, training institute for skilled and unskilled workers, testing laboratory etc.
